Connecting to Hotel Wifi

$

Not particularly computer-savvy, so bear with me. Trying to connect to Wifi at my hotel, and while I can get on w/ my Mac (personal laptop), I can't get my Dell (work laptop) to connect. It sees the network, but shows Local Only for my IPv4 and Limited Only for my IPv6. Ran a diagnostic with Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools and it fails the Ping Test "Failure getting ping status!" My hunch is that something is preventing the pop-up with the hotel specific access info from popping up, but I've disabled pop-ups and everything else I can think of w/ negres. I'm using Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2. Computer is a Dell E6500 w/ an Intel Core Duo CPU P8600. Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Network sharing for photo booth system

Hi,

I have a photo booth rental business. I have a stand alone photo booth where pictures are taken, and a separate kiosk where users photos are displayed. I would like the two computers to share a network so that they can share one printer, and also share the venues wireless connection. I also have an eye fi card, which is an SD card that sends pictures wirelessly to the kiosk, this also has to be part of the network.

I have a TP-Link wireless nano router that recieves the venues wireless signal, this router is then plugged into a normal modem router through an ethernet cable. The stand alone booth and the kiosk are then wirelessly connected to the normal modem router, so that they can share the network. The modem has a USB port for printer sharing. However I'm struggling to set it all up, any advice guys?

Here is an article by a photo booth software company on how to network the system. I run very similar software http://www.breezesys.com/articles/ph...networking.htm

Equipment:

Stand alone booth: Intel NUC computer running windows 7
Kiosk: Microsoft surface pro 3 running windows 8
Nano travel router (To connect to venues wireless): TP-Link TL-WR702N Universal N Nano Travel Router - provides a way to connect a venue's WiFi to a wired internet connection such as a router
TP-Link TD-W8968 300Mbps Wireless N Router - provides a wired or wireless local area network and connects to the internet via a wired connection or a 3G or 4G USB dongle
USB Printer: Mitsubishi CPD707DW

Thanks,
Drew

Routing issues with TP-Link Archer C5 AC1200 Dual-Band Gigabit Router

I recently bought a new router, the TP-LINK Archer C5 AC1200 Dualband Gigabit Router. I have been having many issues with it. When I set it up, it runs incredibly slowly for the first hour but when it is up and running it is perfect. The issue is, it doesn't stay like this for more than an hour at most.

If I try to connect to Playstation Network, Xbox Live, or the Final Fantasy XIV data centers, it refuses to connect. Same happens when I try to access random websites such as Imgur, Chemical and Engineering News at the American Chemical Society, or Netflix. My other router has zero issues with this, but has continuous DNS errors that make using it near impossible unless there are only one or two devices connected at any one point.

Could someone please help?

Page Cannot Be Displayed

Hi everybody :

I've been having the "Page Can't Be Displayed" error for a month. At first, I contacted AT & T Tech Support. But, even after a month, they still couldn't figure out the solution. I did a System scan, using Norton 360....found nothing. Also a Registry scan (via Norton) and only found an invalid entry. I checked the settings in INTERNET OPTIONS, and it didn't help. I tried using PC Pitstop (I used them before), but, their scanning engine doesn't work with IE 11. I've been "binging" Page Cannot be Displayed, but didn't find any applicable solution. It's coming down to the last two alternatives. Switching to IE 10 or doing a rebuild of my entire System. Currently I'm running Windows 7 Professional- 32 bit. IE 11. Any suggestions ?

The dreaded Network RED "X"... Is there an Answer?

$

The RED "X" that Appears over Networked Drives, and can be cleared by manually clicking on Each Drive is an ongoing story of frustration by many.... And Myself! I'm hoping that someone truly has the definitive answer/cure for this seemingly unanswerable problem.

I've just installed a Synology Network NAS 215J (the brand/model does not matter) and I have mapped the Network Drives to the various folders.

The Problem occurs after you re-boot, and a RED X will preside over each of the Mapped Networked Drive Shares/Folders. (See Attached Screen Grab)

Clicking on each drive is required in order to access that share…. Otherwise the Sync Software cannot connect. (I’m partial to Allway Sync.. but take your pick)

Performing Backups and Folder Sync should be transparent, but having to manually go in every time the computer is booted and having to clear the RED X each time is not acceptable.

I’ve tried almost (I believe) every suggestion…. Including the topics found in this forum. Many of the threads just trail off with no resolution…….. I’ve tried EVERY Registry “adjustment”, Network Permission change, and countless other tweaks.

Those whom I consider knowledgeable say “Just live with it!”

If you have experienced this issue, and truly found the answer, you would be doing many users a service by responding with the answer.

**************************************************************************
And should you wonder about the specifics:
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit (Same problem exists with Win 7 Home)
I installed a fresh copy on a separate S/S Drive and tested for the problem BEFORE doing any updates, as some threads claim it was a bad MS Update(s) that caused the issue. No joy… RED X was still there.
Asus RT-AC68W Router – Linksys Router before that….. No Change

Hello everyone out there, I'm experiencing a lot of trouble and difficulties with my laptop. I recently got a virus and the past few days I've been doing whatever I could to fix it and so I finally uninstalled the virus, but now, When I want to go on websites like on internet explorer or google chrome, it says different error messages. Mostly it says 'windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically, contact your internet service provider or network administrator for help or click here for information about things you can try to help resolve the problem'. My laptop says wifi is connected and it shows that it is, but I really don't know what's going on or what the problem is. I've tried everything! Can someone, anyone PLEASE help me out here!!! :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:confused::confused::confused::confused ::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

We bought an LG tv from europe last may and then brought it back with us home here in the Philippines. My problem is that our smart tv connects to the router but it doesnt connect to the internet. It says that it has something to do with the DNS. I have reseached a alot but I still cant find the answer. I have tried suggested solutions like manually changing the DNS and IP address but it also didnt work. Any help is greatly appreciated

Random disconnects from Internet

I keep losing internet on two laptops and a tablet. Sometimes I see that Chrome hangs on "resolving host" other times I it goes right to THIS PAGE CANNOT BE Displayed (on IE) or THIS WEBPAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE (Chrome)

I tried "ipconfig /flushdns" and chrome://net-internals/#dns then "clear host cache"

The two laptops have intermittent connectivity, the tablet has been offline in a few days.

These scans are from my main laptop:
Here's Adwcleaner logfile after cleaning:

how to get rid of this problem....pls read (Ad.Adsmate.com etc)

my router got infected by something which leads all the devices connected to it to some ads site n pop-ups
few months back my computer and phone started having this weird problem,
whatever site i visited (both from my phone or laptop) i get many pop ups and redirected to some ads.adsmate.com/xxxxxxxxxxx sites suggesting me to download stuff(on phone) or showing random ads...
it was very frustrating as i could not visit the site i wanted to at all !
on my phone i was unable to access Instagram it used to say failed to update, many other problems were there, i was unable to download content on my xbox as well.

i always have kaspersky internet security installed on my laptop. But yes no protection on my phone.
at first i thought its some kind of virus/adware/Trojan problem that might have got past my antivirus so i tried many bloatware, adware removal tools but nothing helped in killing this problem

then after searching over the internet (not to forget all this ads thing happening every second ! ) i came to knew that all this is happening cause Router got infected and only method of getting rid of this problem was to reset the modem so i called the guy from my service provider. (bsnl broadband) First he didnt believe that modem is infected he kept insisting that my laptop is infected then i told him that i cannot access my gateway either and this is happening on devices that use internet via modem.
So he finally believed me n reset the modem. Everything started to work like a charm!
Just a few days passed by and all those nightmare like problems started again !!!!

I was like wat the hell is happening !!
then i searched again for this problem then i came to knew that changing my DNS server to google ones would solve this.
And yes they actually did .
I had to change DNS on my laptop on my phone and on my xbox.
Any new device that connects to my wifi gets this problem and its very frustrating for guest (sometimes nice too hehe:D)
But my router is still infected and i think its hindering my speeds n traffic
my phone's wifi stops working randomly, i turn it Off thn On then sometimes it starts working.

Changing the DNS to googles 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 n port 24 (on phone) is not the final solution
how do i disinfect my router, resetting it clearly isnt helping.

today i tried if the problme is gone now and removed the googles DNS n used DHCP and the problem is still there only difference is that now it directs to some other website across all devices.

attached are the screenshots of my phone..take look at the web address..

Wifi trouble

My apartment's internet and cable provider recently went through a conversion of some sorts. Ever since then my wifi hasn't worked. I use my phone, tablets, DVD players and gaming consoles for Internet use; no laptops or computers.

When I moved in I plugged up my router and had wifi for seven months without any issues. My phone and tablets say they are connected with a strong signal but will not give me access. However when I plug my 360 or a friends laptop to the Ethernet cable, I magically have full access.

I have spoken to customer service of my cable provider and router manufacturer (Netgear) with no help. They claim everything they see is working fine. Am I missing something or is this outside of my control. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can the # of users in neighborhood slow my speeds?

Can the # of users in neighborhood slow my data speeds? When I look at the number of network users in my area there are a whole big bunch of them - some I can tell are my immediate neighbors and others. My question is this:

Can the speed of downloading and uploading data become slower with more and more users being added to the equipment in my neighborhood?

I'm using is a very large and well respected ISP provider - not giving the name here as I'm not sure if it would be a violation if this forums rules, and anyway other than some speed slowing they have been a good provider.

Thanks in advance...

Improving Application Performance

Hi all,

My question is more around research. I am wondering if anyone is aware of any white papers or similar that analyse bandwidth / application prioritisation as a method of improving network performance. I would appreciate leads on any research in this field for that matter.

Can't get "online" with Linksys PAP2T internet phone adapter

Hi,

I've been successfully using this adapter until recently. The only thing has changed is that I got a new router. The router is working perfectly for both wired and wireless connections (thanks to some help from Tech Support Guy!).

However, my VOIP phone service no longer appears to be working. When I log onto its configuration page, the username and password etc. are all correct, but the registration state remains "offline".

Could anyone help, please?

Access point connecting to wired printer not working

$

Hello,

Need a little help - and maybe what i'm trying to do isn't meant to be done. But here is the scenario.

I have a printer that only has a LAN port and in the other room of my house. I have setup an extra 2nd router as a wireless access point / repeater (tried both) and then tried to plug the printer into this 2nd router. My issue is I can't get the primary router to "see" the 2nd router as being on the network. This only works if both routers are wired together.

Surely there is a way to do this without keeping the 2 routers wired together.

My setup:
1st Router/Modem (Xfinity) - using 10.0.0.xx
2nd Router (Linksys WRT610 - DHCP turned off, static IP assigned of 10.0.0.xx (in same range)
LAN printer - connected to 2nd router with ethernet cable

*Primary router does not see secondary router as being part of the network, unless they are wired together.

What am I missing? Or is this the wrong type of setup?

Any direction would be helpful. Buying a wireless printer is an option but i wanted to try this first.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Solved: My Sony Vaio E-series disconnects from WiFi Network while playing online game

Hello. I have a problem with my Sony Vaio E-series laptop. It disconnects from my WiFi every time when I am in the middle of an online game. It does it sometimes while I am web browsing. I had Windows 7 at first when I had the problem. I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 to solve the problem, but the problem still comes along! I have the evaluation copy of Windows 10 and it runs pretty well. This problem has started in the beginning of the month of July 2015. Can anyone help me solve this? I tried reinstalling the drivers and disabling and re-enabling the adapter but nothing works. I also tried resetting the adapter by using the wireless toggle switch on the lip of the laptop and it turns back on. But I still need to know why it disconnects when I play games or searching the web. Thank you!

Network bridge stops working when I make a different wifi connection?

I am using Win 7. I have an xbox 360 connected to the pc via powerline adapters, am sharing my video library and internet connection using internet connection sharing by bridging my lan and wifi connections.

When I am connected to my apartment's free wifi(SSID Tenant Wifi), the xbox 360 can share the internet connection and access the videos and music on my pc just fine. I am now trying to connect to a different wifi signal (xfinitywifi). When I connect the pc can use the internet through the xfinitywifi just fine, but my 360 loses connection to both the wifi, and the pc in general. No music, no videos, no netflix. When I switch back to Tenant Wifi everything works normally again.

I have tried rebooting everything (pc, 360 and powerline adapters). I have tried going into the network settings and disabling the lan port, wifi adapter and network bridge, then re-enabling them again. None of this works.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to help me.

Solved: Update disabling internet connection?

My network adapter (Atheros AR5B125) has no internet connect, although it shows full bars.

This happened a few weeks ago and was only resolved with a system restore, so I believe it's a windows update that is causing the issue. Yesterday I had to format my hard drive and forgot about the problem, so now it won't connect again since it's completely updated but there's no restore point to go back to. Any thoughts??

Wired internet cuts out. Tried Everything :(

Hi there.

I have a desktop computer that runs windows 7. It has a total of 16 g of ram. I also have a netgear router hooked up to comcast internet. about every 2 hours my internet will just shut off on my computer only. I was able to unplug my Ethernet cable, wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in to get the internet back.

This worked until i got my new netgear router. It still shuts off after about 2 hours but it wont come back. I have tried resetting my computer when this happens but no luck. So i thought it was my router so i hooked up my laptop wired to the router to see if it would shut off but it worked fine. so i went back to my computer and it still cut out. I went into my settings and unchecked the box that lets the internet shut off to save power but it didn't change anything.

I've tried different times in the day to see if it was just my comcast flipping out but it still shut off. I have tried to release and renew my local ip on my computer but no luck. ive also changed my speed and duplex to 10mbps and full duplex instead of auto negotiation but it only made my computer run slower. Please if anyone has any ideas please comment. If i cant solve this problem before school i don't know what I'll do.
