This issue has bothered me for a month now, my laptop( windows 7)is unable to access to any website nor program that relates to internet even though the connection status is connected to the wifi and has the strongest signal:confused:
i have tried serveral methods, using cmd and typed the following order - netsh winsock reset, and restart my laptop but doesn't work(tried 10 times or more)Then I tried using the recovery and recover to one month before, since it had only worked for half an hour:( I would really appreciate who can give me a reply on this post since it has bothered for a month already. Thank you.

I lose my internet connection through wireless or LAN periodically. I disabled my wireless and just have my wired connection going, but it disconnects periodically & I have to remove & inset my Cat cable allthe time for my connection to comeback. Any ideas? Driver update/rollback, up to date router, and/or configuration? Thanks any help would be very much appreciated-Shalom.

Can't turn on wireless network adapter / Acer Aspire 5750

I have an Acer Aspire 5750. Recently, wireless connection has been spotty on my computer. Phone and other laptops in household work normal using our Wifi.

On my Acer, there is the F3 button that you're supposed to press with the Function button to enable/disable wireless. Unfortunately, that key and other keys on one side of the laptop are broken. So I use a wireless keyboard, that doesn't have that F3 wireless button.

Problem is I can't turn "on" the wireless function on my computer. There is no small switch on the external body of the laptop. Every time I tried to connect to my Wifi, I get a notice that it couldn't connect and to reset my network adapter. The network adapter Intel Centrino Advanced N6205 is enabled when I check the Device Manager. Says it's working normal. Without pressing the F3 button function, I can't find/get to that screen to enable the Wifi.

Any help would be awesome. Thanks so much.

Solved: Not valid ip configuration plus UBS tether fail PLUS itunes phone fail

Hi guys a lot of research online brings me here, and I hope this will be the last stop before I put my fist through the screen of my laptop. :D

So a few days ago my computer can't connect to wireless, stuck in Limited mode. Troubleshoot says - "wireless connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration". i've uninstalled the driver, put valid settings from another laptop I have, I've uninstalled Bonjour, i've put netsh commands.. still nada. The USB connection I could use to tether also stopped working. I've tried other wifi connections and they don't work either. The strangest thing is that itunes won't recognize the phone, but windows does and i can go inside the folders.

I have the 169.254.x.x ipconfig forgot the name but like I've read here before it can't get to DHCP.

The laptop is 6 months old lenovo windows 7.

Would really appreciate some input on what else to try. Thank you!

Setting priorities for my router

Hi, We have ancient internet connection at home, means that any youtube video or downloading file on any other PC at home immediately affects my speed. I somehow managed to get to router settings. I need to set up priority list for devices that are connected or ports for wow. I need fast connection once per week, when i´m raiding in WoW (be no.1 in the list) . Rest of the week i don´t care about my speed.

A catch is that the router isn´t exactly mine so i have to set it up without trial-and-error progress. As i would say, i need to limit their farmville but dont muck up whole internet set-up.

Last thing is, i was told that this kind of thing can be done via QoS so I have attached a screenshot of my router settings in QoS tab for you to imagine with I'm struggling with.

Hope I'm posting this in the right place.
Seem to be having the same or similar problem as a few others.
This problem started after a power outage of about three hours four days ago.No problep prior to that.
WiFi connection ok (but slow).
Ethernet connection (via home plugs) non-existant.
On opening settings from charms bar Ethernet connection says Unidentified Network.
I've tried several solutions including
Reseting Router
ipconfig/release etc.
TCP\IP stack repair etc.
Disabled/Re-enabled Network Adapter and updated driver
Tried to set IP address etc manualy
All above several times
Two days ago resorted to full reset of windows 8.1 (took about 1000 hrs)
all to no avail.
only thing I can see that looks wrong is IP address 169.254.245.10

Any advice please.:(

I'd like to access my iMac remotely with my MacBook via VPN using a Netgear D6200

I have a network of Mac machines. In particular, I'd like to be able to access my iMac (the icing on the cake would be my wife's iMac too) using VPN. I'd be using a MacBook Pro to access the network remotely, via a Netgear D6200 router.

I do have a fixed IP address.

I can use 'Screen sharing' to access my iMac from within the network, using the internal IP address, but if I try the same, remotely, using the external IP address, it won't work.

I'm using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2 on all machines.

Belkin Router won't let my Dell PC open email

Hello,
I'm brand new to this site. Just read about your site in my AARP newspaper, so that should tell you I'm 60+.
My son, a high school teacher, has set up all the desktops I've ever had and the current laptop, as well as the Belkin router. My desktop is Dell dimension E521, purchased May, 2007. The operating system is Windows Vista home premium. My laptop, which is what I'm using to send this message, is a Dell, purchased in 2013, with Windows 8.1 operating system. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I was able to access my email and surf the web from the desktop. The router is Belkin, purchased right after I got the laptop, and has worked fine until 3 weeks ago. I can access everything with no problem from the laptop, but the desktop and the router now fight each other. Just tried to get on so that I could tell you what happens. I click my browser icon, Mozilla Firefox, and the home screen comes up fine. I then click to sign in to email and the router light goes from blue to orange and after about a minute, I get a message "server not found". I close that window and the router light returns to blue. My granddaughters are not happy either because I let them use the desktop to play their games and access sites such as funbrain. Frustration level now runs deep as I'm seriously considering getting another router. My house is a 1-story ranch. ISP is AT&T, DSL with a Westell 2100 wired modem. Your help will be greatly appreciated by this frustrated G-Mom! Thank you.

Someone Stealing My Service ???

We have a desktop PC with Windows 7.

We have DISH satellite internet service.

The desktop is hardwired to a wireless router; router says CISCO Linkskys E2500.

The reason for the wireless is all the little tech-toys the wife is always fiddling with; laptop, smart-phone, Kindle, I-Pad, etc.

Our situation :
For the last several months, about mid-month, we have been getting an e-mail notice from DISH informing us that we have used up our entire allotment of service for the month and that service will become very slow and sporadic for the duration of the month --- and it does, to the point that it takes forever to load a page.

I have addressed this concern a couple times with our local DISH technician and he says that, unless we are constantly "gaming" or watching lots of NET-TV --- neither of which we ever do, that there is no way that we could even come close to using up our package.

He did say, however, that in 99% of such cases he has dealt with, someone is pirating the wireless and hogging up all the service.

We live in the middle of seven acres of property and others more knowledgeable than I say that it would not be likely that anyone could tap into our wireless at that distance.

1. Is it possible that someone could indeed be tapping in on our wireless ?

2. Is it possible this thievery could be coming through the internet instead of the wireless ?

3. What are the other possible reasons for our service getting used up so quickly ?

4. If it is someone pirating our service, how do I stop them ?

5. If I were to dis-connect house-current from the router whenever we were not using it, would that put a stop to anyone else using it at those times ?

6. If all else fails, can I connect the desktop straight into the modem, bypassing and disabling the router ?

Sorry for so many questions.

I am not tech-knowledgeable at all; so please answer accordingly.

Thanks for reading. :)

Solved: Reseting ZyXel GS2200-48 switch, how?

I just got GS2200-48 for cheap from my friend. There is just one problem, no one knows the username/password for it.

No problem, i thought, the switch can be reseted via COM-port, as mentioned in ZyXels manuals. But the manual tells me to upload factory-default configuration file, I just cant figure what file/where can I get that file?

So I have the GS2200-48 connected to my spare PC (Running Windows XP) via COM1, and TERA TERM listening to COM1. It works, I cant get to the Debug mode and enter commands. I just dont know where to get that factory-default configuration file to upload?

I am new to COM-ports and operating with switches, so any help would be great. Anything else you'll need to know?

Image of ZyXel manual below:

SOLVED!
I managed to upload the new firmaware via COM-port and so reseted all the settings :)
In debug mode I used command: ATUR to upload the *.bin and the used ATLC to upload the *.ROM and thats it!

I have a k450 Lenovo Desktop. I have been using my wireless internet through my router for approximately 6 months with no problems and then it suddenly stopped working 2 days ago. My router is fine because my laptop and cellphone can both connect and work fine. My Lenovo desktop can't detect any wireless internet connections anymore. I checked the Network Adapters under Device Manager and there is only one : Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. If Im not mistaken, there should be a LAN adapter. I have scanned for problems and it tells me to plug in Ethernet cable(I have never used the cable, been using wireless for 6 months). Under my Service, I have checked my WLAN Autoconfig and it is running. A day before my computer went awol, my pc did automatically perform a Windows Update. But it was working for an entire day before it stopped. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Configuring Wireless Access Point

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a home network, so far I have a wired network where I have a domain controller running with AD, DNS and DCHP. On this machine (physical) I have 2 ethernet cards. I have a wired connection coming from the main IP Router to this machine, then i have a connection from the 2nd ethernet card going to a 8 port switch which i have a wireless AP connected.

What I am trying to configure is that I can turn the wireless connection off on the main IP router and use the wireless AP as the main wireless connection to the network but i'm not sure on which way round i need to configure the IP's, default gateways, etc...

The IP Router has an ip range of 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.253 and the Default Gateway is 192.168.1.254

On the Domain Controller:
I have Ethernet 1 configured as IP: 192.168.1.70 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (Set to share the internet connection)
Ethernet 2 IP: 192.168.1.71 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.70 DNS: 192.168.1.70, 192.168.1.254

DHCP is disabled on the main ip router and the DHCP server on the machine is giving out ip address from 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.200

With this setup I am getting errors that the machine can't connect to the internet and any devices connection to the AP cannot see the Network.

I am new to the network infrastructure setup and so any advice would be greatfully appreciated.

I once had three computers that I was the owner and administrator of, as well as the sole user of each of them. After a crash one computer was renamed, the second was "partially renamed" and the 3rd not touched. Now I cannot access these computers over my network. When I log in and try to move files between them I get an error message " you do not have permission to access. Please contact your network administrator. " Since I own and administrate all three computers I have no one but myself and I have no idea where to begin to get these computers recognizing each other again. If anyone thinks they can help me I will post the essentials as you request them. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me.

I have a new dual band router. I have a desktop hooked up "wired" and then I have a couple of laptops going wireless.

I ran some download tests on all, my desktop (wired) is getting 30 Meg and the laptops are at 55 Meg...

Makes no sense (to me) that a wireless would be faster...

Also saw someone post about getting over a 100 because they used the "5 Ghz" on wireless.. confused

Hi. Just a curiosity question.
I just noticed that when I check my IP number with Firefox it gives me a completely different number than when i check with IE. Not only that it gives me a different country!!
I just want to know why that is. Why I'm getting 2 different numbers/locations with 2 diffrent browsers.
